While I was house and dog sitting I stumbled upon this old post with some barbed wire attached all grown into a near by tree. Realizing the wire's potential I quickly cut the wire off the post. Having the barbs still on I had to remove them and untwist the two strands. Afterwards I straightened the wire and then colied it into various size rings, cut them, and started playing with design of line and shape. Once together I will give these rusted rings a good polishing. I am using also a animal trap chain, bronze and brass wire, fork prong, and tea kettle chain to accent these rusted chains.

Well, returning to the blog after a long,(but too short)semester studying for my MFA at ECU I have a wealth of work to show case here. I am really excited to have received my Assistantship within the program and can not wait to next semester. I know it will fly by but creating a ton work, will for me capture the essence of that time and place in my own mind. So back to the work, I started the semester like I like to start most of my work, very spontaneous in it's form but reserving and thoughtful through out the entire process. I had no clue where the semester would take me and I experienced so many little hardships that seemed stupid but were like a vice crushing me inward revealing my inner makeup. No matter how much I hated one direction, if I gave my self the chance to look at the situation or the work in a different way it helped me to understand the possibilities that could come to light within that idea. If there could be some content within these pieces it would be my own mind, a spontaneous personal pack rat nest of my own make up, reserved in these objects of my own personal desire crushed in by a bench vice like those hardships that have ended up revealing to me that inner glow and makeup that can make us all so special. There are 10 total pieces that were created as a series of sculptural adornment. They all can be worn and have a small wall mount piece that was created for the piece to hang when not worn. Here are the 9 left of my own pack rat nest of personal adornment. They are made up of steel wire, copper wire, cotton coated thin copper wire, brass wire, cotton coated electrical cords, and various objects locked within. They are all about 4 to 5 inches the length of chain and cord vary.

New Work # 2
Here we have two neck pieces that have been recently completed. The one on bottom is titled "The Long Island Iced Tea Party" complicated name for a simple piece, but that's the humor of the relationship between colors and objects.
Made from a brass tea strainer, coral, art deco beads, sterling salt spoon, nut shell, fly fishing lure, fishing swivel's, brass nails, wood drawer pull, and electrical cotton cord to rest on the neck.
The other one is made from a milk glass mason jar top, brass scuba tank shop stamping, fool's gold(pyrite), red Garnet bead, old medical paper of the lungs, brass wire, sterling fork prong for the clasp. Called "The Treasure Hunter"

Blackbeard's Whisper
Well I have been in North Carolina for two weeks, the girl is doing well at her job, she got the promotion to come here. Any who last week I ventured back over to Greenville to have a meeting with Scott Eagle the head of the Art department at ECU's graduate school. A couple of days before I went I completed this piece. I wanted to have something new to show him and this just came out of thin air. Taking front stage with this one are the old corset and/or shoe buttons. I had a few but the first day I was here, I went to a couple of stores and found a lot more. I kept seeing these buttons all bunched together, but I needed to ground it with some focal point to tie it together, and now I give you "Blackbeard's Whisper"
